How quickly turns the wheel— Copyright 1965-2008 by Dennis Gallagher —
on which our heartaches ride
our love which was so evergreen
now shows its winter side.
She kissed my soul and loved me as a boy
her love for ten years nurtured me
a mother, friend, lover and more.
Much more than these.
Her love has been my sanity
her loss beyond belief.
I guess the hardest part
is to see the change in her.
The bitter weeds her heartache’s sowed
and which my own injustice grew.
Sometimes I see her faults so clear
sometimes only her love.
The same girl whose moods enrage me
is the one whose love can then unthaw.
I guess I can live without her love
but I wonder how to pass these straits
where my heartaches mount in chorused screams
and each moment becomes a day.

the Sun it waxes higher, these days could come undone
the L.A. heat is killing me and I envy Kathy’s fun.
All our secrets run together all our questions arn’t for free
these L.A. tangles have got me as the burning Sun can see

Monday, May 15th, 1978I want to love someone like I loved her— Copyright 1965-2008 by Dennis Gallagher —
so easy to be around, love is simple when it works
I want to love to see her eyes
and embrace her all the time
I want to feel her love by the pleasure in her smile
I want to love my love because she loves me as I am
I’m not monogamous, I could never say I was
but when I’ll love my love she’ll know our love is so true
she’ll never doubt my love I’ll always come around
she’ll never be without my love for its in my feelings that its found
