I hear the muse at my heart
whispering of more stories
than I can ever hope to complete
or comprehend.

Lives of service to the children who starve,
of decent into the decadence of Amsterdam,
of abandoning the things that tie me
to aging without raw adventure and risk.

When he pulls, I ache for things
I’ve never had – and yet have somehow lost,
of going with my spiritual side
of stepping into the wind and clamor of life, raw.
