2024-09-22 – What moves around us

Monday, September 23rd, 2024

If you slow your steps,
you can hear the wind
that deals the cards,
with more clarity.

You turn now, empty,
and listen to that
which moves around us
in every moment.

Time and Death
are both there
utterly unaware that we
are caught in their nets.

We move, engaged,
to escape the silences,
while they whisper,
just behind our evasions.

But, in that silence
lies our dance with fate;
its knife-edge of revelation
inescapable and relentless.

2024-09-23 – When the news stops

Monday, September 23rd, 2024

When the news stops
and the light gathers clear,
here, if we pause,
we simply love each other.

And this – while the trees
and the afternoon
enfold us.

And this – regardless
of whether we notice
it or not.

2024-09-25 – The evening fire

Thursday, September 26th, 2024

I’ve been out and seen the world
in the restless years
amid the storms of passions
and changing alliances.

It’s all far away now
as the evening’s fire begin to burn.

I no longer yearn for the open highways
and the thrill of razor mountains.

Here, I’m settled in a quiet way
with the hands of familiarity embracing me.

I am home after a long journey
settled into a loving now
which wishes
nothing else.
