For some among us your youth
is like the breath of roses.
Born anew into hopes and dreams
    shining bright and new.
I stand struck by your beauty
as we pass on the street.
But like light, poured into the forms of being,
   you will darken and corrode.
And in your innocence, the dreams you aspire to
   will become your nightmares.
For what is within you
   is deeper than your dreams
and this animal something is often
more than your mind of light.

The conviction that you are right
is never going to be enough.
There are others around us
each immersed in their own drama.
And there is no 'right',
there is only what is made
by the conjunction of all of our wills.

The more you see, the less you can believe
   in anything you say.
The deeper the mysteries spin
the less articulate the one who knows.
The great parade marching 1,000 wide
   passes; passing all understanding.
And yet, still, we gaze and question,
   still we seek to understand
      that which is un-understandable.
And so we pass, cradle to grave, cradle to grave,
   serious children made of chance.
