1977-01-17 – Seeking

Saturday, October 11th, 2025

Find me a prayer
before the evening comes down
to enchant the truths
that the apple unbound.

I long for some message,
a crusade or a cause,
with the slightest taste of meaning,
to give my hope pause.

I’ve stood at the slack jawed
picket fence of my scorn
too long and cast stones
not to reap in some thorns.

Aye, the soothsayer, I,
self-made relative man,
impaled on these prophecies,
I now shy the stand.

Edge bound brink man,
my essence unwon,
I’m unraveled perspective,
the all in one none.

1976-03-02 – What dance

Thursday, March 5th, 2026

What dance is this … where we run to pour ourselves
into each other?
Chasing our dreams between some sheets … pressed.
skin to skin … raging against our walls.
Destroying, again and again,
some illusion of what it is
that keeps us apart.

An endless dance of illusion, we dance;
island universes bumping in the night….

And somehow, as our eyes grow more open,
they grow more haunted too.
Until you fairly know your lovers
by the quiet depth of fear in their eyes.

For they know just how many ways they’ve touched
and how many illusions they’ve seen
and how many ways there are
to still be alone.

1976-11-08 – We

Thursday, March 5th, 2026
The crazy eyed people know each other.
beyond words and forms
and titles and times.

And sometimes,
when our conversations precipitate
into that ground state.
where intuition and empathy
fill the holes, our words always leave,
our eyes, weary and wise,
warm to the undercurrents shared again
as we outlined the inexpressible.
giving the conversation substance.

But it doesn't matter
for once the sub-verbal is realized,
the words just become touchstones;
rippling the essence.
of what some people call craziness
from the other side of the mirror.
