2018-12-11 – Deeper

Tuesday, December 11th, 2018

My pen draws me back again and again
to ask what is this pensive, sad joy
that overwhelms me and brings me
to tears as I feel this life?

Is it the enlightenment beyond words;
a full and immediate dose of 'what is'
wrapped in such beauty and pathos
that I am grateful even to drink
      the poison cup?

I don't know.
But deeper and deeper it goes.
The people, the surfaces, the memories
in an infinite parade beyond description
And I have but to look and my heart
      opens in a torrent.

I have to stop myself from gazing
   least I lose the ability
to remain focused in these spaces we share.
Least I be bent by such persuasion
that my tears render me mute.

Here, I can only feel, and kneel before it
   saying 'yes';
as the fullness of being
   pours through me wordless, raw,
      immediate, and blessed.

2019-02-01 – For Colette

Saturday, February 2nd, 2019

She’s quiet about her love.
but it fills the forms where she lives.
Each room ordered in a vision
that reflects her inner self.

I run up to her and I hug her
and she replies, “Here…”

“Here, with these rooms that I share with you,
here, I give you what I am.
Here, where my eyes and hands
have past over things ten-thousand times,
be here with me in this,
my inner garden.

2019-02-04 – The Flow

Sunday, March 10th, 2019

Go with the flow.
Let the moment to moment impressions
be the river you are in.

What stops you?
The need to ask, "What does it mean?"

That urge to bring
   your logical mind in
to pull the summation handle
and to render up an answer?

But, as you do,
you step out of the flow,
into the cognitive
   and out of the now.
